Welcome, let us try and make your life a little more pleasant!
This
site is dedicated to providing information on female pelvic floor dysfunction.
Significant effort has been taken to ensure the information is presented in
a manner that is simple to follow and easily understood. Female pelvic floor
dysfunction involves bladder problems, urinary incontinence, genital prolapse
and fecal incontinence.
These problems are very common in the community with nearly 50% of women who
have had children experiencing prolapse and or incontinence.
Before you can understand the abnormal female pelvic floor you must be clear
on the normal pelvic floor anatomy. To aid you in this pages have been dedicated
to "understanding the female
pelvic floor", "genital prolapse"
and "urinary stress incontinence".
What causes these problems and how they can be prevented and treated will be
discussed.
I hope these pages are helpful to you in understanding female pelvic floor problems,
but it is important to realize that these are only guides and should never replace
the value of consultation with your own doctor.
The illustrations used to highlight these problems were drawn by Stephen Francis in consultation with myself and are covered by copyright.
